Winter Rodent Management

Winter Rodent Management

It’s that time of the year. The holidays are right around the corner and snow is already mounted high on the streets and sidewalks! It’s also that time of year for rodents to prowl your home!

Both mice and rats can cause structural damage to your home when they create tunnels or through their gnawing. They can chew through insulation and wires, resulting in electrical fires. They also pose a risk because they carry disease and can bring fleas, mites, ticks, and lice into your home.

As the remaining days of fall become cooler and the sun starts setting earlier, requests for pest control services become more frequent. More and more we start to see these uninvited pests seeking refuge in our homes.

The fact that one rat or mouse can burn down a home by chewing the insulation off of electrical wires is enough keep anyone awake at night even if the critters cannot be heard roaming around behind the walls.

Residents and business owners alike realize that as part of the upkeep of their dwellings, consideration of pest control must be included. After all, there’s nothing worse than waking up and finding painfully itchy bites on your body or critters that have eaten a portion of your morning cereal or worse, finding mouse or rat droppings in your kitchen.

Occasionally pests invade the comfort of our living spaces and territories. Each species of unwanted guest harbors health or safety concerns for family members. Pests that keep appearing despite elimination efforts may require knowledgeable intervention on the part of a pest control expert.

It doesn't take much to make a rat or mouse happy—an available food source, protection from the elements and a sheltered spot to raise a family are really all a rodent needs to survive. Unfortunately these things are easily found in most houses and apartments.
