Natural Ways to Get Rid of Spiders

Kick This Pest Out Without Chemicals

Natural Ways to Get Rid of Spiders

We find people land in one of two categories when it comes to their opinions about spiders: this eight-legged pest is either a friend or a foe. Spiders are helpful for your home because they are the natural exterminators of the pest world, but that doesn’t mean you want to share your space with them. Fortunately, there are natural ways to get rid of spiders so you don’t need to pull out the chemicals.

Natural Ways to Get Rid of Spiders

  • Keep your home tidy. Spiders come into your house to eat the other pests that make your home their own. By diligently getting rid of other insects, the spiders will have less access to food, and you’ll eventually see less of them around. One of the best ways to prevent pests? Keep your home tidy because pests love to find safe places to hide with plenty of access to food to call their own.
  • De-Web. Spiders will happily make their nearly invisible homes within your home, which have the additional function of sustaining spiders by catching food for them. Spiders can tell your home is a nice place to settle down if there are other cobwebs around. You can encourage your spiders to build their webs outside your home rather than inside by running your vacuum along the places where the walls meet the ceiling and floor, which are the dark and inaccessible corners where spiders prefer to reside.
  • Use scent. Spiders are averse to strong scents like eucalyptus and peppermint. Put strong-smelling essential oils on cotton balls, and place them in strategic areas like corners and in your closet to discourage spiders from building their homes there.
  • Try white vinegar. White vinegar contains acetic acid that harms spiders, so by using a diluted vinegar solution you can safely and successfully repel these unwelcome guests.

Seeing More Spiders Than Usual?

Every home has spiders, but if you are seeing more than normal, you might be dealing with a different problem. Spiders go where there is food, so if there is an abundance of arachnids hanging out in your home, you might actually have an infestation of another pest. Don’t hesitate to give Green Pest Solutions a call so we can take care of all your pest problems, big or small.
